hi its ali again, im a 21 year old girl from australia! I have been studying hard at uni and i really want to experience something new. this is what i am hoping to gain from studying italian in florence: learn italian learn to cook learn art history do lots of sport meet lots of young people my age and have some fun at night clubs, bars etc
can anyone suggest a school which has lots of young people or a great cooking class or a place to meet students and get involved in local sporting teams. also does anyone think that florence is not the best city for all these diverse demands of mine to be met, perhaps verona or milan or siena, bologna? thanks alot i truley appreciate your time helping me out with anything..
Hi, the town to choose for your stay in Italy depends on what are your priorities. Want to have fun (clubbing, getting drunk, yelling at night while walking in desert streets) with English speaking people (your class mates)? Do you also like turistic towns? Then Florence IS your place. Want to experience a kind of real italian life? Less turistic place, more italian people to get along with instead of English speaking folks? Then Bologna would be a town to consider. My 2 cents.
Im from australia aswel and lived in florence for 2 years.. you will definately get sick of living in florence for too long. partying will only last you a few months and then you will feel trapped. Its hard to explain but you will know what i mean if you stay there too long.
Ciao Dimarco, you can feel trapped if you don't drive on the wonderful Tuscan Countryside in the w/end.....if you don't take sometime a cheap flight to Europe....if you don't take a train to visit the main Italian cities like Rome (1 hour and half), Milan (2hour and half), Bologna (1 hour), Naples (3 hour and half)..... If you only stay in town, yes you can definitely feel trapped..but trips in Tuscany, Italy and Europe must be part of your abroad experience..everything is so close here!!! We wait for you here in Florence! A presto!
Im 24 from Melbourne, planning to go to Florence in May!.. Ive been to Italy and travelled all over, and i must say that Florence was one of my favourite places, thats why im going back. I stayed in a small town called Prato about 20 mins train ride into Florence and it was sensational. That way I got to experience the quiet italian lifestyle and also have outrageous partying just 20 mins away. And if you ever get homesick and just wanna have some ozzie company, theres also a Monash Campus in Prato where u'll definately meet some great ppl!
You'll have a fab time watever you choose to do!!..
